Jason de Runa: Human-Computer Interaction Design

Spring ‘08 classes scheduled

Categories: graduate school

After fixing course time conflicts over the holiday break for next semester, I looked over my schedule a second time to ease the nerves. Previously, the class I was an associate instructor for conflicted with one class. I have two required classes, Human-Computer Interaction II - Studio and Experience Design, and one elective class.

Initially for my elective class, I wanted to take a fine arts course in Interactive Multimedia II to improve my ActionScripting skills. After speaking with Jamie McAtee a second year graduate, she suggested to take a Flash STEPS workshop and learn it on your own rather than using up an elective slot. So I decided to take the workshop during the semester and use my elective slot for a popular Information Visualization class taught by Katy Borner.

The undergraduate Informatics class I’m an associate instructor for in addition to the classes above, should make the next five months fairly hectic - although not as tough as the first semester as some second year students say. Then again, for all the expense of being here, I want to get the most out of this program in two years.
