Jason de Runa: Human-Computer Interaction Design

Information Overload

Categories: graduate school

Now that I officially made the move to Indiana to pursue a Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction Design (HCI/d), I can now begin to document some of my experiences.

Graduate and Associate Instructor (AI) orientation began yesterday and I feel there is an overwhelming amount of information to absorb. So overwhelming, its impossible for me to remember all the details the following day. Note: its only the second day of orientation, I haven’t even started my graduate courses yet!

As a way to help myself organize all this new information and make sense of it, part if this blog will serve as a remembering or reflection tool on what I will be learning throughout the HCI/d program. Depending on how hectic my schedule is this semester, I will make it a goal to update this blog twice a week. If not, at least once a week.

  1. There will be ample opportunities to reinforce later what is being thrown at you right now. Concentrate this week on just getting settled into your new environment. And talk to people. A lot. Both to vent and to just get ideas out of your head as you go. Everything starts at zero come Monday morning.
