Which one are you?

Categories: learning

John Maeda scribbled 18 personas for the MIT Media Lab event on Human 2.0, a symposium focused on ushering in a new era in human adaptability.

At the top of his drawings, he poses the question, “Which one are you?”

Looking out the window

I chose the drawing above because it symbolizes my thought and behavior when confronted with experiences outside my comfort zone.

The window metaphorically represents my mind. One side of the window is my personal and unique space: people, objects, environments, ideas, processes, and etc. - things within my comfort zone. The other side portrays things that are unintuitive and transformations that are uncomfortable.

For me to increase my knowledge and facilitate my personal expansion, I must intermingle and roam freely outside my comfort zone. Therefore, push the shutters outward, pull the drapes aside, and open my window to embrace new challenges and new experiences. I feel my life is much more fulfilling when I seek change and deal with the challenges that accompany it.

So… which one are you?
